Today, on my 38th birthday, I am launching a fund to support youth development in Bay Area. In it's first year, the fund will directly support two organizations that offer high access and free soccer programs to children of all playing abilities.  

Soccer Without Borders is an international organization founded in Oakland, CA, serving newcomer youth in the East Bay since 2007. I have supported this organization as a volunteer, donor and advocate since it was founded by one of my high school teammates. I now serve on the Advisory Board for our Oakland program.

East Bay United Soccer Club is dedicated to promoting the sport of soccer as a healthy and enjoyable activity among children and young adults, regardless of race, color, religion, belief, sexual orientation or economic advantage. I have coached at EBUSC since 2010 and stepped into the role of Executive Director of the organization in April of this year. The soccer club currently receives some funding from the City of Oakland through the Sugar-Sweetened Beverage Community Grant Program, which requires us to raise matching funds. Your donation today will help us meet that goal and keep our programs sustainable and accessible to all.

The COVID-19 crisis has critically impacted organizations like these that seek to keep our children active and healthy. Operations are restricted and more expensive, while grant money and other revenue streams are drying up.
